Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and John Stamos have decided to split. They've been married five years. One of Hollywood's most beautiful couples is calling it quits. A rep for John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos confirms to us that they're separating after five years of marriage.
"It's very amicable," says spokesman Lewis Kay. "There's no third party. There's no real reason except they've decided to go in separate directions."
John, 40, met supermodel Rebecca, 31, in 1994 at a Victoria's Secret fashion show. They had their first date two months later at Disneyland.
After marrying in 1998, they bought the amusement park's entrance sign for $30,000. One magazine reported they'd actually had sex in the park, but Rebecca explained, "We ride the rides next to each other - not on top of each other!"
She also found herself defending her taste in husbands in 2002, when Movieline teased her for marrying the guy who'd played Jesse on "Full House." She subsequently refused to host one of the mag's parties.
While her movie career took off with roles in "X-Men," "Femme Fatale" and "Rollerball," John gravitated toward Broadway, starring in "Cabaret" and "Nine."
Their bicoastal careers started taking a toll.
"About a year ago we went through a difficult time, because we were apart too much," John told People last December. "So we made a pact to spend more time together." He added, "We're happier than we've ever been in our marriage."
Last November, they bought a ranch in the San Fernando Valley, but John hasn't been there much lately. He's been shooting a pilot for an ABC comedy in which he plays a New York publicist. And maybe he can give some PR advice to Rebecca now that she has two movies, "The Punisher" and "Godsend," opening in the next few weeks.
"This split couldn't come at a worse time," says one friend. "But what can you do?"

This is very surprising. I never thought this could happen.
I feel sorry for both because a split is always painful. But I hope is for good. I feel Becca's career is growing everyday and she will keep ascending. I wish the best for her. From Mexico, greetings to all of you.
Long live Rebecca.

This same kind of thing happened to Heidi Klum (my other favorite celebrity) a year and a half ago. Having never had a long-term relationship myself that ended this way, I can't say I understand what happened or why. I can only ask: Does John Stamos think he's going to find someone else that's better than Rebecca Romijn? And, as much as I don't like to admit it, does Rebecca Romijn think she will find anyone better than John Stamos? She could of course find me, but the odds of that are not in my (or her) favor.
I always thought Heidi and Rebecca were different from other celebrities- that they married for love-based reasons rather than career-based reasons- and they would prove that celebrities could remain happily married for a long time. My naivete has come back to bite me. Does true love not exist?

p.s. Perhaps in today's culture, being married for 5 years is a long time.

I'm sorry for them too, they looked so perfect and happy. But they split up after almost 10 years of being a couple, that's a long time for changes to happen, so I doubt that they married for career reasons only.
