Post subject: Three pure classical odes in honour of Rebecca Romijn Reply with quote

Three odes in honour of the divine Aphrodite Rebecca Romijn

Ode 1, Ode on immortality, poem in honour of the divine Aphrodite Rebecca Romijn

Stanzas: 5
Lines: 50
Lines used: decasyllables
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC.

1

1. Sweet oleanders, one day I will be cold ash!
2. Unluckily nobody will remember me!
3. Leafy cypresses will fall with a great crash,
4. Α day of light I will no longer see!
5. Is this the cruel destiny I deserve?
6. Is this the destructive fate of mankind?
7. We are inconsistent grains since our birth,
8. Fragile molecules that suddenly swerve,
9. Weak leaves that an impetuous wind will bind,
10. Unspotted pearls that do not know mirth.

2

1. Are we a useless part of the universe?
2. Are we unfinished aspects of the whole?
3. I am now trying to answer in verse,
4. At present, of my void I see the hole.
5. Sad loneliness pervades my blameless heart!
6. Inaccessibility distinguishes our time!
7. Men are not allowed to communicate!
8. Of a perverse mechanism we are part!
9. We are candid angels who feel the sublime,
10. But passing time stops us: we arrive late!

3

1. We are miserable germs of a nasty mother!
2. Shaky steps of a huge, infinite ladder,
3. The incumbent fate is our adverse father,
4. And our days become sadder and sadder.
5. Our unendurable sufferings Fate sees,
6. Nevertheless I see cold indifference,
7. Disgusting egoism towards our holy souls.
8. We are evanescent drops of broken trees,
9. From this we can deduce an inference,
10. That nobody is interested in our roles.

4

1. We are in a process of destruction,
2. Nature is strangling us with its fierce power,
3. Of this system we are a small fraction,
4. The sweetest, even though insignificant flower.
5. We are immaculate lilies of purity,
6. Whose highest hope is to live another day,
7. Even if death effaces any chance to exist.
8. Can we live in this deep insecurity?
9. We are aware that one day we will decay,
10. That we will not be able to resist!

5

1. In spite of this I will not surrender!
2. I must immortalize your endless beauty,
3. Of your charm thanks to God I render,
4. To engrave your glory on marble is my duty!
5. The myth of everlasting art will never die!
6. You will see the triumph of life upon death,
7. In every heart your fame will forever shine!
8. Aphrodite, to your eternal soul I will fly!
9. In my faultless spirit there will be no wrath,
10. Rebecca, I love you since you are divine!

Yours faithfully and eternally

Ode 2, Ode on fugaciousness, poem in honour of the divine Aphrodite Rebecca Romijn

Stanzas: 5
Lines: 50
Lines used: decasyllables
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC

1

1. Transient things are destined to decay!
2. Flimsiness characterizes our condition,
3. Fugaciousness constantly destroys our day!
4. Empty void is leading us to perdition!
5. Passing time is cruelly eroding our life!
6. Every second we sadly approach to death,
7. Of our life we notice the sad decline.
8. Our evanescence is like a cutting knife!
9. We become lonely hearts who feel wrath,
10. In our hearts the rays of hope no longer shine!

2

1. Transitoriness is the sad end of all!
2. Instability strictly effaces any chance,
3. Precariousness firmly invades the whole,
4. We infer that life is not a romance!
5. Illnesses are disintegrating our body,
6. Disillusionment pervades our sweet heart,
7. Morality depends on values, not on wealth!
8. Cruel annihilation devastates everybody,
9. Of the universe we are the weakest part,
10. I wish we could keep our integral health!

3

1. Melancholy is the constitutive state of men!
2. Treacherous Fate annuls every brave action,
3. From hope, joy and happiness we feel the ban,
4. And of this evil world we are the fraction.
5. Vacuity permeates each thought and each choice,
6. Inconsistency makes us feel like arid glass,
7. Lability also connotes the surest act!
8. Of purity we cannot hear the sweet voice!
9. Against nature the chain of men I profess,
10. Solidarity of souls should be our pact!

4

1. We are fragile canes that the wind will bind,
2. Flawless angels perennially misunderstood,
3. Eburnean swans whose nature is kind,
4. Caducous leaves in a dark, abandoned wood.
5. We are thin fingers shuddering with fear,
6. Efflorescent eglantines which will never flower,
7. Red roses that will not blossom tomorrow.
8. We are shiny eyes that permanently tear,
9. Pawns who are led by an ineluctable power,
10. Blameless creatures condemned feeling sorrow.

5.

1. Is this the unfair fate of the universe?
2. Are we predestined to the same nasty end?
3. Or is our destiny thoroughly diverse?
4. In any case our mankind we must defend!
5. What is the meaning of my huge effort?
6. To eternalise your charm, delicate jade,
7. To celebrate your astonishing beauty.
8. My high eulogy is to the point, not short!
9. Your lofty glory will last: your fame will never fade,
10. Rebecca, to divinise your heart is my duty!

Yours faithfully and eternally

Ode 3, to the eighth wonder on earth, poem in honour of the divine Aphrodite Rebecca Romijn

Lines: 50
Stanzas: 5
Lines used: decasyllables
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC

1

1. We are dark shadows of an illusory world!
2. Faint traces without autonomous consistence,
3. Weak morphemes of an unutterable word,
4. Trembling leaves of a lonely existence.
5. Everyone is trying to make his own way,
6. Looking for a hand that nobody can give,
7. And the Fate throws us in a macabre dance.
8. Everything inexorably seems to decay,
9. Destiny blames us and it does not forgive,
10. To live in joy we have not got any chance!

2

1. Inconstant semblances are destined to fade!
2. Cold Indifference destroys our warm heart!
3. From this oppressive prison we should soon evade,
4. And a new life we should undeniably start!
5. We are soft feathers that a cruel wind will sweep,
6. Fragile canes that a huge blizzard will bind,
7. Falling drops of rain that the Sun will dry.
8. Nevertheless we are not allowed to weep!
9. Α sense to this short life we have to find,
10. Even it is difficult, we must not cry!

3

1. Melancholy oppresses our blameless souls!
2. We feel like ethereal angels fallen from Paradise,
3. We are desperately playing our roles,
4. Hoping for a new, sensational sunrise.
5. We are atoms without a clear direction,
6. Unstable molecules that suddenly swerve,
7. Dynamic protons of exceptional rapidity.
8. I sometimes think we express perfection,
9. I judge this cruel Fate we do not deserve,
10. Since we are pure seraphs without acidity.

4

1. Empty vacuity invades our daily life!
2. In our hearts we feel the deepest sorrow,
3. We are bleeding cause of a dreadful knife,
4. We are bright diamonds with no tomorrow.
5. Communication is our absolute need!
6. Sharing feelings and love is necessary,
7. Sympathize with everybody in his sad grief!
8. Of solidarity I am sowing the seed,
9. Reciprocal help should now be ordinary,
10. The golden chain of men should be our belief!

5

1. Nevertheless there is a star in the sky,
2. An ivory pearl that is leading us to heaven,
3. An eburnean swan with whom we shall fly,
4. Venus, there are eight wonders on earth, not seven!
5. Of this jewel everybody wants to know the name,
6. Upon her high beauty nobody can debate,
7. Α refulgent gem is her worldwide glory.
8. Her infinite purity nobody can blame,
9. Of her perennial fame I see the date,
10. Rebecca, I love you, this is a never – ending story!

Yours faithfully and eternally
