Poem: pure Petrarchian love sonnet.
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC, according to Sir Thomas Wyatt’s (1503 – 1542) structure fixed in the Sixteenth century.
Lines used: decasyllables, according to Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey’s (1517 – 1547) structure fixed in the Sixteenth century.
Vertical acrostic: Mystic marriage
Title: Mystic marriage
Theme: mystic wedlock of divine hearts.
Content: exclusively platonic and thoroughly spiritual.
MYSTIC MARRIAGE (735)
1. Mystic marriage, I am dying for you,
2. Young Rebecca, you are my holy, eternal bride,
3. Shiny Venus, our holy hearts nobody can divide,
4. True Circe, I am cutting my veins for you.
5. Ivory Calypso, I am doing it for you,
6 Chaste Daphne, your divine heart I cannot chide,
7. Myth, our two married souls in heaven will abide,
8. Angel, my heart is on a holy altar for you.
9. Ruby, Cupid has thrown his terrible dart against me,
10. Rose, my blood is giving you eternal life,
11. Immense Diana, my soul is flying to thee.
12. Athena, I am bringing my heart to thee,
13. Gentle Rebecca, in heaven you will be my wife,
14. Eburnean Leda, I am dying to marry thee.
