Post subject: Classical odes (4 - 7) in honour of the holy Rebecca Romijn Reply with quote

Ode 4, Ode to praxitelean beauty, poem in honour of the divine Aphrodite
Rebecca Romijn

Stanzas: 5
Lines: 50
Lines used: decasyllables
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC

1

1. Every instant we notice our lability,
2. Every day we see our indelible vanity,
3. Even though we show undoubted capability,
4. Of our life we perceive the empty inanity.
5. Every masterpiece seems condemned to perish,
6. Caducity involves our human creations,
7. The monuments of art are destined to fall!
8. Works of high poetry we should cherish,
9. We should preserve our fanciful creations,
10. The songs of holy love we must extol!

2

1. Lyrical odes are necessary to glorify!
2. Fame should be carved on marble, not on chart!
3. Aphrodite’s beauty we should magnify,
4. Of Cytherea’s high splendour we are part.
5. Cypridina is the Goddess of beauty,
6. Her astonishing charm shines in our bright eyes,
7. She is an ivory pearl born from a white shell.
8. To immortalize Venus is my own duty,
9. Since without her praise my inspiration dies
10. And of my death rings the melancholic bell.

3

1. I am a fragile grain of the universe,
2. Α trembling leaf that a strong wind will bind,
3. But my evocative line is sweet, diverse,
4. I want to underline that you are refined.
5. I am a bare branch of a dried tree,
6. Two quick molecules that suddenly swerve,
7. Α flash of light on a thunderous night.
8. Your perennial fame I would like to see,
9. This is the fate that you surely deserve,
10. Since of my humble soul you are the delight.

4

1. While things decay, your fame will forever last!
2. Passing time will never undermine your face,
3. You shine even if darkness is coming fast,
4. Since firm, imperturbable is your grace!
5. Your vivid eyes glitter more than a sun ray,
6. My lines are splendid stars in the sky,
7. Of your everlasting glory I see the date!
8. Perishable things are subject to decay,
9. But you are a shiny angel and you will fly,
10. Your sensational flight will be led by fate.

5

1. Α transcendent Deity you will soon be,
2. Α sublime Goddess without links to earth,
3. Resplendent diamond, your holy heart I see,
4. I hope you will feel unutterable mirth.
5. Praxitelean beauty, you will always shine!
6. You are the lustrous pearl of my gentle soul,
7. Celestial angel, my heart is sighing.
8. Ivory Venus, I love you since you are divine,
9. I am dauntlessly playing my brave role,
10. In your ivory hands I am sadly dying!

Yours faithfully and eternally

Ode 5, Ode to perennial art, poem in honour of the divine Aphrodite Rebecca Romijn

Stanzas: 5
Lines: 50
Lines: decasyllables
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC

1

1. Oh, adverse fate can annihilate me!
2. Cruel destiny can turn me into cold ash!
3. Bad fortune can seriously damage me,
4. And malignant people will certainly abash!
5. Nevertheless my lines are without any stain,
6. Eternalising poetry will forever last,
7. Imperturbable art will prevail over death!
8. My deep ode will not be written in vain,
9. It will shine tomorrow, not only in the past,
10. My delicate verses will give peace, not wrath!

2

1. One day the harmony of light will be dead!
2. I will not have any hope to live one day,
3. In spite of this dark, I will not be sad,
4. Immortalizing poetry will not decay!
5. Passing time can annul our brave action!
6. Since we are fragile grains of the universe,
7. But history cannot efface our documents.
8. The genius of art reveals high perfection,
9. My ethereal song is really diverse
10. And Time will never destroy human monuments.

3

1. We are molecules that suddenly swerve,
2. Trembling leaves that a powerful wind will bind,
3. Is this the cruel destiny that we deserve?
4. Time is a machine that everything will grind.
5. Of a perverse mechanism we are part,
6. Nature is exerting an almighty power,
7. We are feathers that a cold blizzard will sweep.
8. I am extolling the role of fine art!
9. Since poetry is the most enchanting flower,
10. Even it is difficult, we must not weep.

4

1. Death is the constitutive state of men!
2. Inconsistency connotes our unstable world!
3. Inanity is our dark, thunderous night!
4. Of this torrid heat I am the light fan!
5. Transitoriness is the end of all!
6. Caducity discourages our green hope,
7. Perishability represents our grave!
8. Transcendent Deity, your holy name I call!
9. Your astonishing sublimity will never slope,
10. For your holy immortalisation I crave!

5

1. You are my refined inspiring Muse!
2. Every effort aims at glorifying your soul!
3. Over your state of Divinity I enthuse,
4. And I tell you I am playing my role.
5. Of your bright, effulgent glory rings the bell,
6. You will shine more than a glittering star,
7. I am only expressing impetuous love!
8. Of your holy blood I am the red blood cell,
9. I adore your heart even though you are far,
10. Shiny Rebecca, of your heart I am the glove!

Yours faithfully and eternally

Ode 6, Ode to Platonic love, poem in honour of the divine Aphrodite Rebecca Romijn

Stanzas: 5
Lines: 50
Lines used: decasyllables
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC

1

1. Platonic love, you inspire my refined song!
2. In this superficial world we see vanity,
3. Our sweet souls to Hyperuranium belong,
4. While on this earth prevails empty inanity.
5. Vagueness distinguishes our illusory world,
6. Sad vacuity thwarts our remarkable effort,
7. Lability destroys the monuments of art.
8. Incommunicability annuls our word,
9. Ordinary people inadequately retort,
10. Α fecund, fertile dialogue we should start!

2

1. Holy Love implies the communion of souls!
2. While our bodies are the prison of our hope,
3. Now we are dauntlessly playing our roles,
4. And our process of freedom will never slope!
5. Transient things will inexorably decay,
6. Earthly semblances will irrevocably disappear,
7. Since our weak bodies are subject to death!
8. Souls will remain, it is all I can say,
9. I make this consideration without any fear,
10. And we should accept this thought without wrath.

3

1. Our holy souls live in exile on this earth,
2. They are tied to bodies with unfair chains,
3. And in this condition they feel no mirth,
4. As far as the connection with bodies remains.
5. Our flawless spirits urgently need to fly,
6. But malignant fate keeps them under lock and key,
7. Without any legal permission to get free.
8. Without freedom every voice will forever cry,
9. Since our souls are lighter than a quick bee,
10. From our heavy body every spirit should like to flee!

4

1. Inconsistency we are obliged to share!
2. Death is the sad, constitutive state of men,
3. The almighty power of nature is not fair,
4. Of this fierce violence we perceive the damn.
5. We are trembling leaves of a dried river,
6. Inconsistent canes that a wind will bind,
7. Indeterminate atoms of a mad cell.
8. With dreadful fear we always shiver,
9. We have frightening nightmares in our mind,
10. Of our precocious death rings the sad bell!

5

1. Is there a valid, worthwhile reason to live?
2. Platonic love constantly elevates our life,
3. Eternal muses, your inspiration you should give!
4. Since Parnassian glory is certainly rife!
5. The answer to our lability is to love!
6. And Platonic love is the noblest of all!
7. That is why it is fair to sigh for you.
8. Divine Venus, of your heart I am the glove,
9. Even in the darkest days, your noble name I call,
10. Elect Rebecca, I am immortalising you!

Yours faithfully and eternally

Ode 7, Ode to heavenly light, poem in honour of the divine Aphrodite Rebecca Romijn

Stanzas: 5
Lines: 50
Lines used: decasyllables
Rhyme structure: ABBA, ABBA, CDC and CDC

1

1. One day a cold night will darken the sky!
2. Threatening clouds will obnubilate my eyes,
3. Like an awkward albatross I will cry,
4. For your platonic love my blameless heart sighs!
5. One day I will be insignificant ash!
6. The light will no longer illumine me!
7. I will turn into a skeleton without hope!
8. I will soon become a meaningless dash,
9. Α point of nature that nobody can see,
10. Around my long neck I feel a strangling rope.

2

1. Α thick wood will surround my lonely grave!
2. No name will be engraved on my cross,
3. I will be kept in a solitary cave,
4. And all around the place there will be damp moss!
5. We are molecules that suddenly swerve,
6. Ethereal creatures without any future,
7. Innocent seraphs without any real aid.
8. Is this the cruel destiny that I deserve?
9. Is this the mortal wound I should suture?
10. Am I a shadow that is destined to fade?

3

1. Am I only an incorporeal semblance?
2. Αm I an evanescent ghost without shape?
3. With a phantom I bear a resemblance,
4. My humble heart I am folding in a cape.
5. I will never accept the twilight of life!
6. I will not surrender till the very end,
7. My indomitable spirit will forever resist!
8. In my sweet heart there is a dreadful knife,
9. My poetic lines I will always defend,
10. Even if it is difficult, I will exist!

4

1. I feel like an inanimate cobblestone,
2. Α trembling leaf that a cruel wind will sweep,
3. Of my lifeless corpse I see the empty bone,
4. But in my heart there are not snakes that creep!
5. I am a white angel with a candid wing,
6. Α cherub who is floating in the fresh air,
7. An effulgent pearl born from a white shell!
8. Eternal Goddess, your worldwide glory I sing,
9. Divinity, without your love I despair,
10. Eburnean Venus, of your fame rings the bell!

5

1. Α splendid light is leading me to heaven!
2. This jade has got a high, grandiloquent name,
3. Gem, there are eight wonders on earth, not seven!
4. Your sweet, immaculate heart nobody can blame!
5. I love your holy soul since you are divine!
6. Of your lofty glory I am the faithful bard,
7. I swear that I am not telling any lies!
8. Sublime Aphrodite, my heart and soul are thine!
9. My love shines on ivory marble, not on a card,
10. Rebecca, you are the shiny light of Paradise!

Yours faithfully and eternally
