2001 (11-15): Release of Mick Jagger's 'Goddess in the Doorway.'
It's Only Rock and Roll But We Like It, Like It, Yes We Do!

Yes we do, and so did one thousand lucky people who attended a very special album launch party hosted by none other than Mick Jagger himself. The rock legend was in Los Angeles last night at an intimate party at the El Rey Theatre, celebrating the release of his latest solo effort, 'Goddess in the Doorway.'

Jagger strutted to the stage at approximately 9:30 PM and launched into "God Gave Me Everything," the first single from 'Goddess,' and immediately set the electrifying tone for the rest of the evening. The consummate performer thrilled the crowd with a half dozen songs, including "Visions Of Paradise," "Everybody Getting High," and "Lucky Day" from the new album, as well as the all-time favorites "Miss You" and "Respectable."

Seen rocking amongst the star-studded crowd were such Hollywood luminaries as Jack Nicholson, Meg Ryan, Sean Penn, Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Kate Hudson, Chris Robinson, Ben Harper, Laura Dern, Billy Corgan & Jimmy Chamberlain (Smashing Pumpkins), Salma Hayek, Nikka Costa, Jeff Goldblum, Tracey Ullman, Carrie Fisher, Dan the Automator (Gorillaz), Naomi Campbell, Thora Birch, Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20), Shakira, Alicia Silverstone, AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys), Patricia Arquette, Fred Durst, David Spade, Kenny Scharf, Michelle Phillips, Miranda Lee Richards, Susanna Hoffs, Heath Ledger, Rebecca Romijn, and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam).

The launch party celebrated the release of Jagger's latest solo effort, 'Goddess in the Doorway,' which also marks his label debut as a solo artist on Virgin Records. In addition, this celebration was taped for an upcoming ABC special, "Being Mick," airing November 22 at 10:00 PM. 'Goddess,' set for a November 20 release, is already receiving rave recognition. Rolling Stone magazine recently gave the album a five-star lead review, calling it "an insuperably strong record that in time may well reveal itself to be a classic."
