2002 (05-23): Cinema Against AIDS gala
Everybody got Stoned at Thursday night's AmFAR bash, held in the tented garden restaurant Le Moulin de Mougins on the outskirts of Cannes. Versace-clad Sharon Stone, that irrepressible festival du film femme, was the source of audience amusement at the star-studded gala that raised $720,000 for AIDS research.

All that money was raised thanks to big-hearted celeb guests such as Elizabeth Taylor, Elton John, crouching tigress Michelle Yeoh, Milla Jovovich, Stephen Baldwin, Iman, Rebecca Romijn, Bianca Jagger, designers Hubert Givenchy, Marina Prada and Carla Fendi, director Barbet Schroeder, New York debutante Cornelia Guest, photographer David LaChappelle and the new toast of Cannes, Bowling for Columbine director Michael Moore.

Later during the dinner party, Harvey Weinstein paid $100 grand to have Stone, Jovovich and Romijn sing back up on "Twist and Shout" with Elton John and R&B legend Sam Moore. Diamond junkie Taylor tried to get her rocks off by tugging playfully--we think--on Iman's borrowed 03-carat, pear-shaped diamond necklace. And when Stone's diamond necklace was auctioned off for a cool $175,000, Jovovich was inspired to belt an impromptu version of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend."
