2002 (10-10): Launch of the U.S. Branch of the SABERA Foundation
(115 total words in this text) (900 reads)
At a recent party at Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas' house in Los Angeles, $1.6 million was raised to benefit the Sabera Foundation for the "social transformation of Indian women." An auction featuring actresses, models, their significant others and their designer dresses was too complicated a fund-raising mechanism to describe here, but it should be noted that Rebecca Romijn got $5,000 more when she tossed in her underwear, and 20 little girls were flown in from Calcutta especially for the event. If the combination of elements - a $5,000 thong and children from India - seems unlikely, readers should ponder the theory of Hollywood relativity, which explains absolutely everything.
