Rebecca Romijn says she hasn't been spending time with another famous actor since her recent break up with husband John Stamos.
"All of it's fabricated," Romijn said on ABCNEWS' Good Morning America. (04-16-2004, RRF) "People will believe whatever they're going to believe," she said. "There's nothing you can do about it."
When asked about a current gossip column blurb that she has been spending time with actor John Cusack, Romijn said the only new relationship in her life is with a puppy. "I haven't been going out. I've been staying home with my girlfriends," she said.
The former couple announced their decision to end their five-year marriage earlier this week through publicist Lewis Kay. "The split is amicable and they have asked that the media please respect their privacy," Kay said.
Romijn, a 31-year-old former Victoria's Secret Model, first met actor John Stamos at a fashion show. They were married in 1998. Stamos, 40, is best known for his role on the ABC sitcom Full House.
Romijn' acting career took off in 2000, after she appeared in the action film X-Men. Her latest film, The Punisher, opens this weekend. Stamos got his big break as Blackie Parish on the daytime soap General Hospital back in 1982. Then he spent eight years (1987-1995) playing "Jesse," a fun-loving uncle with a bad boy image, on Full House. Since then, Stamos has appeared in many TV movies and in commercials for a long-distance phone service.
The former sitcom star has also appeared in several Broadway shows. Stamos replaced Antonio Banderas as the film director obsessed with women in the Tony Award-winning revival of Nine at New York's Eugene O'Neill Theatre this fall.
He had also replaced Matthew Broderick in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and starred as the master of ceremonies in the long-running Roundabout Theatre Company production of Cabaret at Studio 54.
While Romijn would not reveal a reason for their split, she says they have remained friends. "I am still trying to get my head around it."
